Hello, and welcome to Haitian Community of Saint Rose! Haiti is the poorest nation in the western Hemisphere. Two-thirds of the population lives below the absolute poverty line, unable to meet minimum daily caloric requirements. Once a sustainable country, Haiti has been crippled by presidential removals, international aid denials, and civil violence. The richest country in the western hemisphere, and arguably the most powerful in the world, resides a scant thousand miles away. We feel, as being some of the more fortunate on this earth, that it is our duty to help our fellow brothers and sisters who are less fortunate. It is our goal to share the struggles of the Haitian people with you, in hopes that you will be moved by their story just as we have. Thank you for visiting!
